Last Saturday 11th of June, more than hundred people over 55 enjoyed the second H2OpenDay in Spain, which was celebrated in the municipal swimming pool Campolongo of Pontevedra.
The Royal Spanish Swimming Federation organized the event, which promotes the benefits of swimming as a healthy life habit for people over 55, with the support of the city of Pontevedra.
For many participants it was their first aquatic experience.
Once again, the big surprise of the event was Roberto Alberiche master swimmer, born in the Canary Islands but resident in Murcia.
All participants enjoyed watching his performance inside and outside the pool. Alberiche reminded participants of the importance of aquatic practice and the physical and mental benefits of swimming.
This year Roberto Alberiche has broken five World Records in the category +85 years.
The day was concluded with complementary activities related to three fundamental aspects: prevention, health and nutrition. In order to highlight these aspects RFEN committee organized theoretical and practical workshops on the topics.
The Royal Spanish Swimming Federation and the city of Pontevedra have valued the event very positively thanks to the excellent reception and response of Pontevedra seniors.
